Paragliding Instruction

Lesson Descriptiondurationcost
Tandem Lesson: Learning basic flight controls, right of way rules, soaring techniques, and the approach into the Andy Jackson Airpark.
2 hours$160
Ground handling and Training Hill: Learn general ground handling techniques. As skills build, flights are then from the 60' hill. All equipment provided. There is a $60 discount if the student supplies the equipment. Returns to the top of the hill are provided using a motorized Gator making it physically a breeze. Since ground handling takes on average 10 to 20 hours to master, it is recommended that students purchase a wing after their first 2 ground handling lessons in order to continue practicing at the field between lessons. This could cut the total number of ground handling lessons needed down to about 3 from often as many as 10. However please ask us about getting equipment for your specific needs as there are plenty of incorrectly sized or inappropriately rated wings floating around on places like Ebay. We also have good prices on new and occasionally pre-owned equipment.
2 hours.$160
Combination Lessons: This is an economical combination of the above 2 lesson types. All equipment is provided however if student supplies equipment for the training hill portion there is a $40 discount. Most students require typically 2 or 3 of these combination lessons plus 1 or 2 training hill lessons to prepare for their first mountain solo lesson. As mentioned above about getting equipment, if a student has equipment to practice on, we often see total pre-solo lesson expenses in the order of $600 to $800. Without equipment the pre-solo lessons often total about $1200-$1500.
3 hours.$220
Mountain Solos: Radio assisted mountain solo flights. This is only after demonstrating approach abilities on the tandem(s) and having a minimum of 15 flights from the 60' training hill. Typically a student needs 1 to 3 of these radio solo flights after which only shuttle fees would apply. Students either have their own equipment at this stage or may rent equipment based on wing for $60, and/or harness for $10. USHPA Novice rating issued when skills and knowledge are demonstrated.
